Legião Urbana was a brazilian rock band from Brasília, formed in 1982. The original formation was Renato Russo (vocals), Dado Villa-Lobos (Guitars) and Marcelo Bonfá (Drums). The band also had a bassist, called Renato Rocha, but he left after creative divergences.

The band was created in 1982 by Renato Russo when he left another band, Aborto Elétrico, due to disagreements between Russo and the Lemos brothers (guitars and drums). The Lemos created another very famous brazilian rock band, Capital Inicial, and Russo formed Legião Urbana.
The first album, called Legião Urbana, came out in 1982 and had lots of successful songs, such as Será, Ainda é cedo, Geração Coca-Cola and others. The album had a great influence of international bands, like U2 and The Cure.

The second one, Dois, did a tremendous success along side the next one, Que País é esse?. After that, band was one of the most famous bands in Brazil. The band has also 3 other albuns: As Quatro Estações, Legião Ubana V and O Descobrimento do Brasil. 8 albums were released after the end of the band:; A Tempestade, Acústico MTV, Uma outra Estação, As Quatro Estações ao vivo, Como é que se diz eu te amo?, Canções para Acampamentos and Mais do Mesmo.
The discography
In 1996, due to AIDS, Renato Russo dies, and with him, Legião also dies. Villa-Lobbos and Bonfá are trying solo careers and trying to launch some unknown songs that Russo wrote, but never published.
Until today, Legião Urbana is one of the most famous and best brazilian rock bands, with Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Barão Vermelho and Engenheiros do Hawaii.
